Flight 3407 Crashes in Clarence NY

February 12th 2009 flight 3407 crashes into a home in Clarence NY claiming 50 lives. There is still no word on what actually caused the plane to go down, but we just recently learned that the pilot had just finished his training for flying the Dash -8 plane 2 months before this and only had 110 hours of flying time.

Could this tragedy have been avoided? I believe it could have been. Why would anyone think that they were qualified enough to fly in icy weather conditions, when they just finished training, and haven't had that much air time?
